The office work is stealing your billable hours

OneBody builds automation and AI for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and field-service businesses in North Alabama: leads answered after hours, quotes out faster, the invoice generated the day the job closes, and one connected system instead of six. Fixed fees against a written scope.

Where the week actually goes

In Jobber’s 2026 survey of over 1,000 home-service owners, the biggest self-reported time drains were jobsite management (48%), customer communication (40%), quoting (37%), paperwork (31%), invoicing (28%), and scheduling (27%). Almost none of that is the work customers pay for.

Billing is where it turns into cash-flow pain: ServiceTitan’s 2024 survey of 1,000+ commercial contractors found one in five takes more than a week just to send an invoice, and a third of payments arrive more than a week late. An invoice that drafts itself when the job is marked complete removes both lags.

The lead you never heard about

Per Jobber’s 2026 report, 56% of customers expect a response within the hour — and only about 20% of pros reply that fast. After 5pm the gap is worse, and the customer calls the next name on the list. An after-hours responder that captures the lead, answers from your approved facts, and books the visit closes that gap without hiring a dispatcher.

Six systems, one business

ServiceTitan’s 2026 contractor survey found only 20% run their business on a single software platform — most juggle two to six. Every gap between systems is re-typed data and a chance for an error that reaches a customer. And the owners pulling ahead are automating: Jobber found 52% of home-service owners now use AI — 88% of the most confident businesses versus 27% of the least.

Frequently asked questions

We already use ServiceTitan / Jobber / Housecall Pro. Do we need this?

Keep it — those are good platforms. We work on what's around them: the double entry between your platform and accounting, the after-hours lead response, the reports someone still assembles by hand. Nothing gets ripped out.

Will an AI responder say something wrong to a customer?

It's designed not to act alone: the responder captures the lead, answers only from facts you approve, and books or hands off to a human. During the pilot every exchange is reviewed, and accuracy is measured before it runs unattended.

What does this cost a shop our size?

Prices are published. The assessment is $3,500 fixed for most shops; automation projects start at $4,000 against a written scope. If the fix is a setting in software you already pay for, the report says that instead.
